Kingdom, not Empire
Jesus came at a critical time. The fearsome Roman Empire had invaded, subduing the local population and plundering their wealth. There was no consensus on what to do: Pharisees, Sadducees, Zealots, and Essenes all had very different, and competing, ideas. Enter Jesus, with His radical Kingdom, not Empire agenda. Empires are never good news. God's Kingdom is different. In Black History month, we explore what Kingdom, not Empire has to say to us and our Colonial history.
